Popular snacks in Taiwan

Feeling like writing something and i just thought of some candy gift box to take home.I would say their is more than just this two pictures i be sharing .However today I just have this so let me say something short. If it happens to be you around Taiwan and don't know what snack or sweet might not be found in your country then here i show you two of them. One of them is the pineapple cake .It is quiet popular within this country in Asia so i believe it would be nice or good to share with your friends back home.Basically is just a cookie or Biscuit with pineapple flavor. The other one is a hard candy which has peanuts .To be honest i cant recall seeing this in my country or in Guatemala. How i would describe this candy is hard and just let it slowly melt in your mouth as if chewing not the smart way.It will stick on your teeth and you would have to brush up. Anyways the box has quiet a lot so you can share among friends .That way they will know and try something different that a snickers bar.

lovers of indian food

It has been awhile and their has not been anything new .to be honest it has not been my first time to stop buy an Indian restaurant round my place. Now has been the third time since, i am student and not always carrying that much money hhhaa. Based on my observation this restaurants have about the same things on menu.So what might be a little change could be some of them have a more comfortable seats or others more decorations. My first time i tried was not all so good but the third time my favorite dish has become the rice ,which I'll show u below. The curry is okay but what i didn't like that is the same meat with the rice .Then seems it was a busy hour and the waitress could.t explain on how to basically eat their curry and the onions which left me perplexed . We also selected their snack and their famous tea. The snack is called Roti but is flour tortilla with melted butter at the top .That was not so special to me .

next stop of finding out

Today I finally found the sample of Thai food menu. Not sure if you guys are familiar with food from that country.I used to have this thinking that it was not good and was afraid to taste. I would say its quiet familiar to Belize food or to spicy food from Latin America.Anyways I was able to snap some photos and there you can see.The only weird thing I dislike that they put Tofu on the side.Apart from that they also put cooked cabbage which has the taste from the common Taiwan buffet.
mostly chicken

price is not that expensive

the bottom pictures illustrates some of the soups

snacks such as egg and some pancake or pie

top 3 drinks that can be ordered

Perhaps after seeing this photos and you end up in china and not sure what to eat remember Thai food is great based on my opinion .I don't really like much of its drinks since they are super sweet and if you have any problems with your glucose then i would not recommend .However they are okay if no health issues.

lets find out

It has been a while that I started taking some online courses and took two classes about some basic Mandarin and got a review of some things about luck and bad luck. Before from past classmates of Taiwan i was told of this sort of stuff. So it happens now that I also found it on this basic class of mandarin and took some photos for you to see. It is quiet interesting to know that certain numbers are considered of great luck in Chinese culture. Also I once was looking for an apartment to rent and was told by another foreign friend that Chinese people avoid living on 4th floors .Take a look at the photos that I caught from my class and you will see that it is because there is a word in Chinese that means death. Hope this can help you as a tip.

This i thought might be good to share since Chinese people have this words and can be interpreted in the funny silly way.

A shift

Its been a while i have been curious on exactly why so many Chinese people drink more soy milk and less cow milk.Next point is that i never had this on my table so not really brave to drink it. All my life i had 100% milk and dairy products. So it has come to mind that i really needed to read enough to be convinced for a slight shift to soymilk.OH wonder if this will really work while in Asia.Well made the first attempt yesterday and actually is a little difficult for the shift ,after i finished drinking it i felt i wanted pure milk .Therefore some good things i found will using the google search are as follows .Seems that for certain things soy milk is better than cow milk.the last consideration is we should not abuse of it and it be ok to drink. Then another huge problem would be allergy to soy ,so other than that lets see.

try out

Today i thought of sharing some new drink i found out in the store and some biscuit or looks like a small bread. Was out shopping for some Indonesian noodle as you can see in the picture and then came across the can of juice.Nothing strange of this and actually thought was good to share since i don't find this kind of stuff in the shelves of my country's supermarket.
Perhaps if you are out in Asia you might want to try and my recommendation is that it is good and i did like both the small cake .

summer south korea

Summer and students are out for some getaway from books and all the stress all semester long. Then where to head home or just try to explore a new place ,well before summer ends and i head back to college i wanted to see what South Korea is like.So i made a few days out in the capital city and see what it is like the food and people and places. Food is quiet good i enjoyed it except one dish that had raw egg. I am not a person that would expect a raw chicken egg on top of my rice. haha you could imagine my face.Other than that food is good = spicy and dont forget to have witth your BBQ some sochu hhhaha seems koreans like to drink alot that you can see it on their face .Usually red haha and they look sleepy while taking the subway. Then if you are to go some place i would say is quiet convenient just take what you feel comfortable or take bus if you are in some kind of budget or you want to travel like locals.Taxi service is great just needs money and they stop for you ,saw 3 types of taxi the most expensive with black mirrors , clear one mostly grey color seems to be the 2nd expensive then they have like orange color not bad either.some good places to head on are like royal tombs , the five palaces, N tower of seoul, Gagnam is good for dinning and shopping, Myeondong and if you are looking for some thrill rides head on to Lotte world.

snack in Taiwan

Hi there just got a video clip about snacks around the Island of Taiwan.
The person mentioned about the noodles , and i tell you has been funny or sort of weird i would say
since the meat doesn't really looks so real. To me is sort of artificial JAJA.You yet don't belive me then take  alook at the clip and you will see or if you are not totally convinced then just try it.other snacks are also mentioned which i don't really have much fun of it. Not really like soy milk products.Find out more of all this snacks around the Island on the below link.

Taiwan

I have been writing throughout my blog about Taiwan but was not yet concentrated if it is really a good place to see.Since i mostly write about its food. So today i thought of giving you guys a rundown of where to enjoy apart from its iconic building the Taipei 101. If you head out of the city and see the Sunmoon lake be a magnificent place especially if you love photography nearby is a small water park and is fun has some good thrill rides well only 2 of them made me fun .other places if you are really onto food is go to the southern city of Tainan which you might enjoy but if you run out of time then just go to the night markets in Taipei city and should be alright. Then if you prefer to stay in the city via metro you can head to the Yamingshan (mountain name) Wulai is also a good place to take photos you can have fun there watching some aboriginal  performance .There is also plenty of museums so ask your hotel for the special exhibitions many people recommend the national palace museum which you can only take photos outside, or if you want to stick out then head on to Tamshui where you can do bike riding and also eat around and seat on its cafe and wait for the sunset.Or why not take a whole half day around the Chiang kai shek memorial hall and you can also go to the Sun yatsen memorial hall which is similar in architecture just a different person. then more to the north is the park called Yeliou takes awhile to get there bus is much better since afterwards you have to walk ,so if taking train you still need to pay another bus fare to get to the road that leads you to the park. I think these are some quick places to go even Taiwan doesn't depend on tourism you can also enjoy places.

Tokyo

Tokyo an amazing city , have a late flight and want to reach your hotel , that is no problem just ask at the information desk upon arrival.they will provide you with the latest information in a few minutes .As i learned depending the area  your hotel is then just provide the information and then you can decide whether you want to to take taxi .However taxi is a bit expensive so perhaps you can take monorail or simply take the limousine from airport to the nearest train station and you will save some bucks. As night the fare is adjusted from 300 Japanese Yuan .But if you don't mind paying a few more = 10,000 Yuan then take taxi. For me i just took airport Limousine to my closest train station which was less than 2000. then the train is just in front of me so that was great plus my hotel was not far so i paid less than 3000 .then if you feel lost just ask the train staff and they will help you and you will get your destination  just follow your map . food there is not same as you already might know Tokyo is quiet expensive so dont worry you can try there ramen's ,sushi , some salads and i dont know what all i ate hhhaa they have rice with some kind of beef , pork which i don't know the name i forgot i just tried eating. So overall Tokyo has many places to eat even small bakeries ,Starbucks, and even Indian ,Italian food ,Chinese food, Taiwan food,Korean anyways there is plenty to try .several bars to enjoy the evening and clubs but unfortunately i didnt go in the bars cus i don't like drinking.Wanting to shop yes there is also most recommended place is Ginza ,an area of high class shopping many global brands on this area , my other favorite area was Shinjuku which also has many brands for shopping like uniqlo and you name it all.the electric street is here , government buildings so is quiet busy area and is crowded at night .Sightseeing other than disney head on to museums you might want to check the list such as Edo , a popular shrine is Meiji, easy to get there and has shopping area after a long walk. The East imperial garden is also nice place but cant get into the emperors building as is highly secured.Nearby you can head on to Mitsubishi museum, and can also head on to eat around the Marunouchi building .The tokyo station is also good for photos since the building is very unique.Looking for more head on to the mega car show for toyota, just need License and you can test drive the cars so be sure to check latest information about its rules. Not so far from that building is also their museum displaying its history and you can take photos of all the old cars.I guess Tokyo is a great place to go and have some fun and if this places sound boring to you then find what you like as i also saw the tokyo tower and is ugly during the day so is not really worth seeing , also has the skytree just a building also which is good to see at night as well as the rainbow bridge. Get it started and have fun.

On the way

I wonder what do you guys drink for breakfast.Any local drink from your country that you would like to share? Seems in many Latin countries they drink coffee and others are turning to Milo or Ovaltine. However i used to drink water cause i didn't liked coffee that much since teabags weren't that popular.Mostly it were some people with some disease and had to go on low calories of caffeine so they would switched to tea.Now i am in a different part of the world so tea is not so strange but no soda's are sold haha i remember even drinking coke or orange Fanta in the morning ,how ridiculous.Several times i go out and get some breakfast i observed that the 2 most popular drinks are black tea or milk tea.Actually i felt very afraid to drink it at first since i am afraid of my teeth changes yellowish color .So this milk tea seems so popular here that i can't really drink gives me some kind of reaction to my belly that seems like it doesn't accept me.Not so sure if its the amount of sugar or simply the kind of milk they use .I am trying to overcome but not so sure how exactly i can .Other doubts i have about this is i have heard is not healthy makes you feel heavy ,well at least when i drink it. The other so popular milk tea is that one with bubbles .I yet haven't figure out what are those bubbles made of but just try it i dont like to eat those .The texture is like Papaya seeds.
Anyways let me give you the picture of this bubble tea that you mind want to try and perhaps end up liking it.

this is the picture i got from google and is the same sold at the tea shops and night markets.

finding out

Today lets take a break from all the random food around me.Lets head on to the country of Belize in Central America. Since not much to do there and you mind be wondering of any special event not to miss.
The most enjoyable events are the Costa Maya in Ambergris Caye.this event is full of night celebrations with several contestants from the Latin American Countries which is known as Mundo Maya.Another good event you might want to see is the Carnaval Fiesta (party). It is similar to the carnaval in Brazil. It takes place around February .Just before the Easter break in Belize.Lastly another popular event in San Pedro is the Lobster festival. All of this three events are for you to enjoy and have some fun in Belize. So if you are not into much of nature head on to this island and have some fun there.

There are other things you can enjoy as the Maya Ruins but is not on the coastal area head on to the District of Cayo and you can see this temples if you want to refer .

if there is a lack of information it is easy to get as this Nation is small and you can find out from other

websites.

Anyone of you have any interest in seeing some belize food here you go.
this videos will show you some of its foods.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EiwFDw9RTbQ

the Chimole in this video shows that it is eaten with corn tortillas but some families also like to have plain white rice .

another interesting bread is shown below however in the video is not coming from Belize but is made in the same way due that it was introduced by the Creole people in the country.

Lastly you can see a short introduction of Belize cuisine .

in the search

Not much about cuisine this days as a typhoon coming around this area of the world.
just browsing into my photo album found out that i had not shared with you guys two of my past trying off yummy food around my area. the first picture is more of Middle Eastern food .they have the bread which is called Pita .First time i tried and was good .Along with it there was some beef like Moroccan style if i am not wrong .This i can say was not a bad day for dinner went excellent. The second image demonstrates the Iranian chicken style perhaps it may not be authentic since the chef is not from Iran but worth trying it.On the side you can see a small teapot or kettle that contains a fruity tea which was somehow red ,not bad either.

Pita

special chicken

tea kettle

Then the next image is about South African style food.Actually i haven't read much about what is South African food.Since this small meat cake or sorry i almost forgot the exact name it is called Pie , i have seen in my country and some Spanish guy cooks it and is the same way as the picture i got. What is inside is meat and onion just like how our mothers would spiced up the meat with some black pepper etc then it looks like it is baked. It was quiet okay to me i tried the beef flavor .the meat was similar to Latin style ,hhaa so i was happy it had no Chinese style even though the cook is Chinese lady.

this image displays the flavors and the prices so you might want to take a look .It also tells you the flavor and then you might know which is okay for yourself .

questioning

Hola Diario, just a quick note .

Been travelling for few days with some girls from Asia .Not many times i have encountered this culture

problem when i sit at a table and is all quiet. Quiet at a  table when dinning has been very weird to me as i

have always been used to chat with other companions or my family. It seemed that some prayer is going on

haha like when i had to attend service mass on Sunday's  and i know i should speak in a very low voice if i

have some question about the hymns or else i should just sing or shut my mouth.

Perhaps someone can explain to me how i can overcome such a difference since i am not from Asia .I still

cant explain or totally understand how a girl cant know what to ask with same gender. The only way that i

tried to see if they want share something is i ask a question but then i dont want to feel as an interrogative

person hhaa so just for you to know and not be shocked when this happens to you .

other things about this Asian culture might come sometime soon.

Next few things i can recall about being weird to me is guys walking with the girl's purse on night markets or

even on train.Sometimes her bag ain't heavy and the guy walks with it.It be okay if its heavy to be polite and

take it but other than that it seems strange.Another tip is while dinning sometimes Taiwanese want to share

from same pot which doesn't seems that clean to myself as to say that i don't really know the person .So i

don't see the point of sharing,as whenever i eat soup i am served in one bowl and that is meant for

me.Thirdly might be whenever you buy a different tea and they want to try it, this happened to me and i just

gave away my drink as i am not really acquainted with the person. Then i almost forgot to mentioned that

whenever you eating soup be aware that someone might slurp , which in my culture is considered dirty like a

pig eating .This can be noisy so just don't panic is quiet normal in this part of the world.okay i tell you some more shortly .

tip for the day

Some interesting things that tourist or any foreigner might want to know while being in Taiwan.just a quick summary of the things I found out and some I have seen , one is umbrellas are always along by a Taiwan person, one could be unpredictable rain showers other is protect from sun. Not all Taiwan person reply emails, this has happened to me while trying to contact two professors. They never replied. Profile on Facebook might look funny. Moving on is your behavior should be watched or media is looking at you, that is cameras are all over .next tip that I have observed don’t feel weird if people stare at you. Another interesting thing would be more than two people on a scooter so don't be shocked .People on this part of the world love dogs and cats. So if you will be seeing many of them holding and taking good care of their dogs, so few babies here ha-ha. Don't panic friends. Okay for other things check the link below and learn other things that I didn't mentioned.

The plan

Looking for the best in Hong kong. Hong Kong is a small

island country about and hour from Taiwan via air. Anyone

of you having an interest in going there be it for getting

a glimpse of it. Then let me say due to my travel recently

to this place not much of attractions as in cultural ,

seems more of a modern city with various shopping malls.

Therefore if you are into shopping I recommend you this

place .the best place to shop for the best brands go to

time-square. There you will find many brands of clothing

if you want some souvenirs head on to the station of Mong

kok , on this area you can find some souvenirs. Actually

not much of souvenirs there but just a few but the price

is reasonable. The other spot I went shopping was around

Causeway Bay .Guessing is enough for shopping now let me

mention some place to have fun other than their Disney

land park, there is the place to see the big Buddha statue

called Po Lin Monastery. At this place you can get a great

view of the city since you take the cable car to get to

the Big Buddah. The peak tram is a good place to capture

that good sunset picture , simply a train takes you up and

you see the island and you can also buy the ticket to see

Madam Tussaud's .The ticket is not cheap but if you are

into viewing this Hollywood stuff then there you got it. A

tip if you are planning to head there is Don't go there

too late as it gets very crowded and you will have to wait

1 to 2 hours . Other spot to get the view of the stars or

see a small concert and the harbor is the Avenue of Stars.

It is quiet nice since you see the different colors of

lights shinning from the other end of the island and the

night cruises. This place gets extremely crowded so flock

there early to get the best video shot of this extra

ordinary place. After the light show is over you might

want to walk and see the stars of HongKong. Lastly you

might want to visit the history museum . Other things

about transportation is that if you are trying to go the

local way don't get frustrated that when buying the tickets

for trains , no counter help except for changing

coins.Sorry but you are on your own to buy on the machines

so study the map and just be sure to always have those 10

dollar coins. moving on is to say there you can buy the

card as locals, I didn't really understand why but just

keep out of the stress or else take the Cab but is a little expensive.

This is it for now and see what else you want to know then

drop the message .

get real

where to start, one thing bothering sometimes .Is going to pick a small meal trying to eat just to feed the brain after reading some boring notes at school.it so happens , the college has on campus restaurant ,sounds convenient .one thing take a look are you one of those person's afraid of getting sick or the sort of thing while you are in a new country or unfamiliar place .this place should not be much of a headache to me whenever i want to eat like locals.Since i can save few bucks and not eat western food.it so happens to me that i yet don't understand how can a place at least the education institution cant take any serious measure about healthy food . here you have it i wont right more details as the truth is food here is sold like this especially vegetables , in this case cabbage look at the photo and you will know my meaning.

looks like some insect was eating this .

welcome to the room

Hello dear diary,

I have no idea what is exactly eaten in many countries until I get a small taste of it.it still leaves me questioning or wanting to see what else is eaten there.this just happened not very long ago.below I will give u a glimpse of some Burmese food .i did go out to the country as usual it happened by luck someone knew the place where there are several restaurants and not long I and the others got a taste of it. Moving on if you ask me what I thought or if I like it. Honestly not exactly but it was wonderful to grab a taste of the food around other South East Asia countries.basically I thought if the noodles were have been hot then perhaps I would have enjoyed it.the cook asked for the amount of spicy we wanted but still but not that of the best to me once more i confirm.take a look  and see the pictures and hope your journey in Asia be wonderful .

This are the 2 kinds of noodle .

lastly the fish soup along with noodles.this was the only one that was hot.

lets keep moving on with things around me. i just have a quick thought since i have been growing up in a different place than Latin America.there is this one fruit i found on local market and some supermarkets around the city.At first i didn't know exactly what it was ,since i had seen the fruit back at home and also the tree but we never ate that or never saw it at our local market.Seems people in my country don't eat it.Well , i then asked someone what is the fruit for and if it is eatable, hhaa. Surprisingly it is eaten by people around Asia but one thing is kind of smelly.so be on lookout for this strong smell which i have learned the more it smell means ready to eat. Then just now i have found out it has healthy benefits and honestly i haven't tried it except the biscuits ,which attract the smelly flavor.Other thing that i also don't know is how to buy them however there is a website here and you can read if you ever get interest in trying it off and i let you know what i feel when i get to try it.

Beach time

what is next , today .It happens that few weeks or lets say

sometime in June i had some interest

in going to the beach.I found a friend to go with me so we took the train from the city to the

popular and most nearest beach to Taipei. the beach is called Fulong .It takes about 2 hours to

get there by train as that is what my friend and i took. The reason we wanted to go is play a little

on the sand and see the  sand sculpures. With my acquaintance on getting there is to check the
train schedule or else u might be in some trouble and be coming in a crowded train .Once you

get there it will only take you a few minutes to get to the beach, but whoah be aware you want to
go into the beach just to take pictures or go for a swim don't be surprise, you got to pay 100

Taiwan Dollars.I was quiet shocked that to go to the beach i needed to pay an entrance fee.

That is dumb to me And the other thing that surprised me was that people can't swim wherever

they wished.Guess what you better stick to one area or the coast guard will chase you .

Guys this is the link for the Fulong Beach ,just have fun and check it out it might not be the most

beautiful beach but just to see the real thing be okay.

good day

A day of stopping and try to explore what is around me.As to be sure was not craving or wanting anything sweet on a hot day but i ended up buying it. Is just simply a candy that is found in Belize .It has been awhile i have been around Asia so not really worried in wanting something sweet for a small snack after my lunch hhhaa!  It just happened accidentally that i ran out into this mini market and ended buying the sweet and sour Tamarind candy. I thought it might taste similar to the country of Belize so there i have it.
this candy looks quiet different .I had seen the big rounded one but not a tiny as this on the picture below.this one is sold in a much bigger bag, so basically the price is a little high.My opinion after just trying one is that is is not the same taste .it has more sugar than the tamarind sold in Belize.

this is the small bag of tamarind in the market.

this image i got from google just to make a comparison of how it looks .
this is more delicious as i remember ,has less sugar and more of the tamarind sour flavor.

Fear Not

Just awhile ago was trying to find something to read while sipping a fruit juice and guess what.
Don’t be too shocked .it was one of those ordinary evening stopping to see what is going on and
Came across and an article of rat meat in china. Why do I point out this just that you may not fear?
The island of Taiwan as I did many times. I thought I would find this sort of thing over here and
The thing of eating worms but is way safe. So don't run up with this on your mind. They have
Some good places to eat so don't need to always end up in the night markets or the street
Vendors. The strangest thing I have found here on the city of Taipei is the snake corner which is
A snake corner. The temple is called “Longshan” feel free to take a look you don't need to try the
Snake blood or any organs.

this is the article going viral in china but must be okay in other areas you might visit.

then if you ever come to Taipei might want to go over the snake area and just take  a look there you have it .
